'New' at the park

Today men were working at the park.  Some were grooming the playing fields.  But one was working on adding a new park bench to the play area.  This bench isn't like the others.  It looks like a donation from a friend of the park that is no more.

We also found a new 'odd fellow'.  This little guy looks like it might be a 'squash bug'.  Help in identification is appreciated!  Thanks!
