Hot and dry today with fire warnings. That means the weather has been so dry that wildfires break out more easily.
This time of year the milkweeds crack open and the strong winds carry next year's generation to their new starting places. About this time of year, the milkweed bugs are abundant and easy to find. There are often bugs of various stages of growth living on the same milkweed. They love to suck on the milkweed plants and their seeds.
These are not full grown yet. When they are full grown, they have wings. They older ones look a lot like box elder bugs.
The two below appear to be helping, or at least anticipating, the opening of another milkweed pod.
Enjoy!
