Last year a large number of waterfowl, mostly mallards, gathered in the marshes. It was a time of splashing and chasing and pairing up. Today I noticed a few mallards enjoying a bit of open water near the eastern bridge. It wasn't long before that few became over a dozen and party began. This little lady had enough of the fray and gathered herself nearby on the ice. It was a beautiful day.
