The sunshine provided vibrant color today, for which I am thankful! Temperatures warmed a little and no cloud was visible. Some of the ice and snow started melting on the bridge. I ventured down the service road today and captured some delightful pictures of sumac and a sumac colony.
Although there is such a thing as poison sumac, the variety pictured above is most likely a variety like Smooth Sumac or Staghorn Sumac. Specific identification is difficult this time of year. There are over 200 hundred varieties of this plant found all over the world. Some people harvest the berries for a type of tea or 'lemonade'. It is said to have medicinal purposes.
Hope you enjoyed!
