Details from the Light Change

The last of clean-up should be done this afternoon and the tower light changing crew will be on the road home, to Tennessee.

The new lights are much smaller and much more energy efficient.  The old lights were installed initially in the 1940's.  One of the lights replaced weighed 94 lbs.  The men have to manually carry the light on the climb down.  How would you like to carry one of these while climbing down the tower?

This is a close up of the replaced light.  The blisters are from lightning strikes.
