Foliage near the lake was a clustering spot for Box Elder Bug instars Sunday morning. Instars are nymph stages of growth. The photo above includes several instar stages.
It wasn't easy to determine if these were Box Elder Bugs or Milkweed Bugs. After comparing to a number of photos though, I believe these are the Box Elder Bugs.
Although these bugs are generally considered a nuisance, the bits of bright red clustered among the green are interesting and the contrast kind of pretty to look at.
