Several skippers were out to play along the creek path.  They were partial to the blazing prairies wildflowers.

Carnage Control

Amid the storms, a toad met his demise.  The flies and an American Carrion Beetle were busy with clean-up.  The beetles like to come in after the flies.   There is a lot more drama here than meets the eye.  Click HERE to find out.

Bubble Armor

When I think June, I think  to look for bubbles like these.  The bubbles help to protect a spittle bug.  The visible hint of yellow is likely a nymph in the second or beyond stage.

Four O Clock Ambush?

Shhh ... do you see him?  I missed him at first.  These pretty Wild Four O Clock's hide something.  Perhaps waiting in ambush ... Look in the middle of the top photo - and on top in the side photo.  Could it be some kind of Assassin Bug waiting to strike?  If it is, be careful ... they BITE!
