Late Spring Batches Arrive

Spring is almost over and her later flowers are in full swing.  Above are a small patch of Pale Yellow Iris along the lake shore near the park.  Along the creek shore near the Tamarack tree, a large patch of Slender Beardtongue are in bloom.  Also near the lake outlet are patches of Canada Anemone.

Enjoy!

Yellow Flags at the Lake

A large yellow iris-like flower is blooming on the lake shore near the playground.  This is the only yellow iris in the United States.  Even so, this Pale Yellow Iris is considered an invasive species.  It can form large colonies that choke out native plants.  This flower is sometimes called 'Yellow flag'.

Enjoy!
