Late Spring Batches Arrive

Spring is almost over and her later flowers are in full swing.  Above are a small patch of Pale Yellow Iris along the lake shore near the park.  Along the creek shore near the Tamarack tree, a large patch of Slender Beardtongue are in bloom.  Also near the lake outlet are patches of Canada Anemone.

Sunday Findings

The False Solomon's Seal is starting to end.  Most can be found in the forest.  Some can be seen along the forest edge near the first bridge. 

Canada Anemone are popping up along the lake shoreline near the bridge outlet.

Tall buttercup and American Vetch can be found along the marsh road.









And near Winnetka Avenue, found this Red Clover.  I believe that is a baby grasshopper hiding among the petals.

Of Flowers and Damsels

Among the Canada Anemone these little flower crab spiders sometimes hunt.  They won't kill you, but their bite can be very painful.  Give them some respect.  Also along the lake among the tall grasses are many blue damselflies.

Canada Anemone

Canada Anemone have been popping up along the lake shore near the outlet.  Bet you didn't know we had some Canada at Northwood Park.
