Wet Week

It has been rain with scattered thunderstorms all week.  The lake has a healthy flow now.  And sometimes rain can add a pretty touch to things in nature.

Enjoy!

Soggy Week

This week has been filled with storms and showers, with a flood warning thrown in.  The creek outlet is maxed, no more room for much more flow.  There are flood warnings in effect now through Sunday evening.

Yet in the sogginess, a couple new flowers have shown their blooms.  White Avens spot along the marsh road.  And a nice patch of Motherwort are in bloom along the forest trail entrance by the first bridge.

The sun came out this afternoon and should be out again for a while tomorrow afternoon.

Enjoy!

New In the Wood: Large and Little in the Rain

A day of on and off light rain has brought some new spring wildflowers on the scene.  Like this Large-Flowered Bellwort.  A number of patches of Wood Anemone are popping up as well.  They are just waiting for a patch of sunlight to coax their blooms open.  Little-leaf Buttercups are opening as well.

Raindrops Keep Fallin'

Yesterday my husband woke singing "Raindrops keep falling on my head ..."  Today was no exception.  Sometimes rain brings out more color and contrast.  I enjoyed my photo walk this afternoon in the rain.

Nature's Cup

Lining the two ponds on Boone Avenue, are many tall yellow Cup Plants.  One need only inspect the stalks after a rain to know how they got their name.

Enjoy!
