Delicate Wings in Spring

Today was a treat: my daughter joined me for my walk.  She seems to have a special sense when it comes to insects and today was not exception.  She pointed out butterfly wings!  On the utility road were sunning Mourning Cloaks.

This is probably a male trying to attract a female.  Another was nearby on a tree trunk. Perhaps the female?
