In the still of the early morning...
This morning a couple of guys were having fun with remote control boats. With the sun out and wind at minimal, it was a perfect time for it.
In the quiet, I finally saw a pair of Wood Ducks. I've heard people tell of wood duck sightings before, but this was the first for me.
They were very shy and flew away when they realized I was close. Very near here I also caught this guy in the forest area:
A Northern Flicker! Do I detect a hint of yellow under the wing? If it is, then this would be a Yellow-shafted Flicker.

This was definitely yellow shafted. Sorry to say, but found a hawk with a freshly killed Flicker where the yellow showed. =S
