The marshes have been quiet for at least a week now. I didn't realize at the time that they were there as part of their social cycle. It was a time for them to gather and pair up. Now I see a pair here and there, but the marshes are not carpeted with ducks and geese as the were earlier. Yesterday, some of the lake ice was loosely piled on the shore. That pile is melted today. There is still ice in the middle, but it is shrinking fast.
Turtles have come out to bask. No too many yet. They should be mating soon.
The female painted turtles are larger than the males. I'm not sure if this one is female, but it could be. Not too much green yet. Squirrels were scampering about as well on the edge of the forest area.
I'm not sure what this one is doing, it almost looks like it is kissing the branch?
Hope you enjoyed!
