The Opening

There is a tree on the marsh road that I have been watching.  It has very large buds on the end of her branches that looked more like large tulip buds or magnolia buds.  They are at least a few inches long.   Recently they started to open.

Today I noticed various buds open more and more at different stages.

It is not a tall tree.

But the buds opening are lovely.  There may be some discoloration due to the recent chilly weather.

I've tentatively identified her as a Horse Chestnut tree.  If you know otherwise, please comment.
