Rev 22:1 And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the 5throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street. ~~~ Live in the USA? Get a free Bible and free Christian books

Fuzzy Kittens

Several buds are starting to fuzz.  Some along the marsh road and some along the creek between the bridges the pussy willows have started to come out to play!

Enjoy!

Male or Female?

Near the first bridge I found and confirmed a male and female couple in residence:  Pussy willows.  I saw the two bushes.  I saw the differences in the pussy willow flowers.  I just didn't realize they were a male plant and female plant until this year.  Plants that are male or female (not both) are called dioecious.  The above photo is of the male.  The side photo is female.

Life Bursting Forth

Sometime spring seems so 'resurrectionly' to me.

Morning Walk Highlights

A fine frost covered the park in early morning.  As sun's light hit, it quickly melted away.    Even moss had frost.  A layer of ice covered the creek.  Thick enough to hold the weight of a duck couple.  Pussy willows are opening more and more.  Also more park walkers are returning.  It was good to catch up with some this morning.

Marching Along

Winter snows are hard to find now.  The ice is breaking up in the creek.  Ice on the lake is thinning. And pussy willows are coming out to play.  It will not be too long now before the early wildflowers make their entrance.  We might even see a butterfly or two yet in March!

Spring Cling

Bare twigs expose the woody wild grape vines.  They cling to anything within growing reach.
Today I found some fungi (Turkey Tail) that clung back.

First Day of Spring

Although this is the first day of spring, things are off to a slow start at the park.  Most of the ground is still covered with several inches of snow.  Still ... where the snow subsides, signs of spring are there.  Mullen is looking green and fresh as ever.
The pussy willows are losing some of their shyness.  And a  bright orange mushroom popped up near the snowless base of one of the forest trees.

Shy Kitty

Warm temperatures, flirting with but not quite hitting 50 (F), have started to coax shy pussy willows out.

Park paths are not cleared and difficult to walk.  The slushy snow is unpredictable and still deep in places.

Enjoy the warmth and sunshine!

Blushing Pussy Willows

It seems no one told the pussy willows that spring has been held up by snow.   They are starting to blush.

Pussy Willows Playing in the Snow

Although the snow has not left yet...

It hasn't stopped the pussy willows from coming out to play!
