The Melt

Much of last weeks snowfall melted away overnight.  This morning started with a thick cover of white fog.  These were taken as the fog was subsiding.

Shy Kitty

Warm temperatures, flirting with but not quite hitting 50 (F), have started to coax shy pussy willows out.

Park paths are not cleared and difficult to walk.  The slushy snow is unpredictable and still deep in places.

Crack in the Cold

It was very slushy and wet out there today.  Seems there has been a "crack" in the cold these few days and the snow is shrinking.  The second level down is visible at the bleachers.  

The melting overflow has started to cover the creek, some water flowing over, some seeping upward from a crack in the ice.  

  

In spite of the overflow, the 'curiosity' is still visible on top of the remaining ice.

Spring Meltdown

With sunshine and temperatures in the 50's (F), much of the snow has given way.  Wear your boots down the marsh road.  There are still several inches of slushy snow cover there - though probably not for long.

Warm Colors of Winter

Temperatures were warmer today, reaching above freezing.  On the gravel road the freshly melted snow uncovered a small chip of bright orange agate.


Some of the berries of a wildflower have kept their red.

The berries near the pavilion have been covered with ice that melted off the roof.  Their red is well preserved.

Sun Sinking

As the sun's rays heat things darker faster, some sink in the snow.
